The semiannual meeting of the Center for Dielectrics and Piezoelectrics (CDP) was held at the Mercure St. Paul’s Hotel & Spa, close to the University of Sheffield campus in Sheffield, United Kingdom, on May 14-16, 2019. The meeting discussed recent developments in the field of electroceramics, including new methods for ceramics processing, capacitors and supercapacitors, energy storage, reliability, advanced characterization techniques, piezoelectrics, thin films, MEMS, etc. Presententations were made on the progress of ongoing projects and other issues of importance in the field were also reviewed.
In addition, an optional tutorial entitled “RF Simulation, Characterisation and Devices”, given by Will Whittow of Loughborough University, was offered at University of Sheffield on the morning of Tuesday, May 14, prior to the meeting. Tours of the Johnson-Matthey facility (limited to 20 people) and the Lucideon facility were well attended by members and students following the meeting on Friday, May 17.
Center directors were thrilled with the attendance and ranked this meeting to be one of the highest attended by members, students and faculty.
